NOTE:- (i) In the absence of Scheduled Caste Candidates, Scheuled Tribe Candidates will also be
considered.
(ii) Conventional type application for the above post will be summarily rejected.

(iii) Applications submitted by candidates belonging to the communities other than those
notified will be summarily rejected. No rejection memo will be issued to these
candidates.
(iv) Separate Ranked Lists will be prepared for above District in pursuance of this
notification. Ranked List thus prepared and published by the Commission shall
remain in force until candidates are advised and appointed against the vacancy
earmarked for the above community, but remain unfilled due to paucity of candidate
during the currency of the Ranked List published for the post in the following dates in
following districts.

(v) Candidates belonging to the above reservation communities shall submit
application for this post to Kollam district where the vacancy is in existance for
their community and shall note the name of that district against the relevant
column in the online application.
(vi) The selection in pursuance of this notification will be made on a Revenue
District basis, subject to the special conditions laid down in G O (MS) No.
154/71/PD dated 27.05.1971. A candidate advised for appointment in one
Revenue District from the Ranked List prepared is not eligible for transfer to
another district unless he/she completes five years continuous service from the date
of commencement of service in the former district. Even if transfer is allowed
after five years, it will be subject to the rules in G O (MS) No.4/61/PD, dated
2.1.1961. Candidates already in Government Service holding the same post in
any one district are prohibited from applying again for this post, but they can apply
to higher posts when notified.
5 Method of appointment : Direct Recruitment (From candidates belonging to above
reservation communities only)
6 Age Limit : For SC candidates :- 18-41. Only candidates born between
2.1.1971 and 1.1.1994 (both dates included) are eligible to apply
for this post. [In the absence of SC Candidates ST candidates will
also be considered]
For Muslim, OBC, Viswakarma candidates :- 18-39 Only
Muslim, OBC, Viswakarma candidates born between 2.1.1973
and 1.1.1994 (both dates included) are eligible to apply for the
post. (Including the relaxation as per para 2 (I) of General
conditions).
Note:- For concessions allowed in upper age limit, subject to the condition that the maximum age
limit shall in no case exceed 50 years, please see Para (2) of General conditions under Part II
of this notification.
7. Qualifications : -
1. Must have studied upto standard VIII.
2. Must have proficiency in boat pulling, Knotes, splices and rigging, handling single cylinder
motor boat, anchor work and swimming. The proficiency in the above items of work shall be
assessed in a practical test conducted by the PSC at the time of selection.
Note :- In making selection preference as coming within the meaning of G.O (Ms) 50/70/P D
dated 12.02.70 as amended by G.O( Ms) 246/70/PD dated 21.07.1970 shall be given to
candidates who had undergone seaman training successfully in the Kerala Institute of Nautical
studies, Vizhinjam or similar other training Institutions.
3. They shall possess the Physical standard specified below.
Height - Not less than 165 cms without shoes or boots
Weight - Not less than 50 kgs.
Chest - Not less than 80 cms normal and not less than 85 cms on expansion.

9. Mode of submitting applications :-
Candidates shall register as per 'ONE TIME REGISTRATION ' system on the Official Website
of Kerala Public Service Commission 'www.keralapsc.org' for applying for the post. Candidates who
have registered shall apply by logging in to their profile using their User- ID and password.
Candidates must exclusively click on the 'Apply Now' button of the respective posts in the
Notification link for applying for a post. No application fee is required. Candidates can view and
have a print-out of the details in the profile by clicking the link Registration Card, if required.
Candidates are responsible for the correctness of the personal information and secrecy of password.
