Note: The Ranked list Published in pursuance of this notification shall cease to be in force after a
period of one year from the date of finalisation of the Ranked List or after one month from
the date of commencement of training in respect of the last batch selected from the list
within a period of one year from the date of finalization of the Ranked list which ever is
later. Recruitment will be made for the above vacancies and also for the vacancies reported
for Special Recruitment from Scheduled Tribes during the pendency of the list.
5 Method of Appointment : Direct Recruitment (Special Recruitment from Scheduled Tribes
only).
Note:- Applications received from candidates other than Scheduled Tribe candidates will be
rejected. Individual communications regarding the rejection of their applications for the
above reason will not be issued.
6 Age Limit : 18 – 31. Only candidates born between 02.01.1981 and 01.01.1994 (both
dates included) are eligible to apply for this post.
7 Qualifications :
1. Must have passed SSLC Examination or equivalent examination.
2. Must possess current Motor Driving Licence with endorsement for driving
heavy goods vehicles or heavy passenger vehicles.
3 Must not be less than 160 cms in height (without foot wear). Must not be less
than 48 kgms in weight and must not be less than 76 cms round the chest with
a minimum expansion of not less than 5 cms.
Note: 1 Women candidates and physically handicapped persons are not eligible to apply for the
post.
2 Physical efficiency test will be conducted by the Commission to assess the physical
standards and suitability of the candidates for the arduous nature of work. Must qualify in
at least 5 out of the 8 items of physical efficiency test showing the minimum standards of
efficiency noted against each item (Physical measurements of Candidates will be taken
before the commencement of the physical efficiency test). Candidates with required
physical measurement alone will be admitted for the physical efficiency test.

3. Must be certified to possess the visual standards specified below without glasses.

4. Candidates should produce Medical Certificate issued by a medical Officer not below the rank of a
Civil Surgeon Gr II as to their physique, fitness, capacity for rough outdoor work and also of the
Visual Standards, if they satisfy the physical measurements and come out successful in the physical
efficiency test.
Preferential :- Other conditions being equal, the Home Guard Volunteers who have completed a
term of 3 years in that organization and who have satisfactorily undergone training in
Fire Fighting during the period of tenure, will be treated as having preferential
qualification for direct recruitment to the post.
Probation :- Every person appointed to the post shall from the date on which he joins duty, after he
completes the training and examination be on probation for a total period of two years
on duty , within a continuous period of three years.
Training :- Selected candidates should undergo a course of training for a period of 4 months in
the State Fire Service Training School and pass the examination in the subject
prescribed for the course.
Note:- A written and practical test will be conducted at the close of training. Those who fail
to qualify themselves at the test, will have their training extended for a period of one
month at the end of which, they will be tested again in the subjects in which they
have failed. Those who fail to qualify themselves in the re-test will be discharged
from service.
Bond :- Every person appointed to the post shall execute a bond intending to serve the force
for a period of not less than 5 years and to pay to Government a sum of 2,700 in case
of failure to serve in the force for the said period.
8. Mode of submitting applications
Candidates shall register as per 'ONE TIME REGISTRATION ' system on the Official Website
of Kerala Public Service Commission 'www.keralapsc.org' for applying for the post. Candidates who
have registered shall apply by logging in to their profile using their User- ID and password.
Candidates shall click on the 'Apply Now' button of the respective posts in the Notification link for
applying for a post. No application fee is required. Candidates can view and have a print-out of the
details in the profile by clicking the link Registration Card, if required. Candidates are responsible for
the correctness of the personal information and secrecy of password. Before applying for a post,
candidates must ensure correctness of the information in their profile. They must quote the User- ID
for further communication with the Commission. Applications once submitted will be received as
provisional and particulars shall not be deleted or altered after submission. Applications submitted
not in accordance with the conditions of the notification will be summarily rejected. Documents to
prove qualification, experience , community, age etc. have to be produced as and when called for .

11 If a written test /OMR test is conducted as part of the selection, admission ticket of eligible
candidates will be made available on the website of the Kerala Public Service Commission.

12 Paragraphs two, three and Twenty Five (except the conditions laid down in Rule 3(c) of part II of
KSS&S Rules) of the General Conditions are not applicable to this selection
13 Appointments are made on the basis of the rank secured in the ranked list of candidates prepared
in pursuance of this notification subject to the conditions laid down in GO (P)No.21/76/PD dated
17.01.1976 and GO (P)No.25/94/GAD dated 22.01.1994 allowing special reservations to
Scheduled Tribes in accordance with the procedures made for this purpose from time to time and
subject to the rules under Sections 3 (c), 17 (a), and 17(b) of Part II of Kerala State and
Subordinate Service Rules, 1958.
