Recruitment will be made for the above vacancy and also for the vacancies reported for Special
Recruitment from ST only during the pendency of the list.

Note :- Applications received from candidates other than Scheduled Tribe will be rejected. Individual
communications regarding the rejection of their applications for the above reason will not be issued.
6. Age Limit :- 18 – 41 Only candidates born between 02.01.1971 and 01.01.1994
(including both the dates) are eligible to apply for this post. (No other age
relaxation will be allowed).
Note:-
In the absence of qualified candidates within the age limit, the upper age limit shall
be relaxed up to 50 years. But in no case the maximum age limit shall exceed 50(fifty) years.
7. Qualifications
A (i) Diploma in Agricultural Science awarded by the Kerala Agricultural University or
its equivalent.
In the absence of qualified hands under item (i) above.
(ii) Vocational Higher Secondary Certificate in Agriculture.
In the absence of qualified hands under items (i) and (ii)
(iii) (1) Pass in SSLC or its equivalent with Agriculture as optional subject.
OR
(2) Pass in SSLC or its equivalent and a recognized training in Agriculture.
OR
(3) Post Basic School Leaving certificate with Agriculture as an optional
subject.
B. Good physique.
The following are the certificates accepted as recognized training in Agriculture :-
(i) Successful completion of two years certificate course in Agriculture Science
conducted by Gandhigram Rural Institute, Madurai or by other similar Rural
Institutes recognized by the Government of India.
(ii) Certificate in Agricultural Science awarded by the National Council of Rural Higher
Education, Government of India.
(iii)Certificate in KGTE or MGTE in Agriculture.
(iv)One year training in Agriculture at an Agricultural School or Basic Agricultural
School.
Note:- 1) Persons who have completed the 2 years certificate course in Agriculture of
the Rural Institute, Thavanur, will be given preference over KGTE/MGTE
hands. The preference mentioned above will be within the meaning of (G.O.(MS)
50/70/ PD, dated 12.2.1970)
2) The persons in possession of a Diploma in Agriculture Science awarded by the
Kerala Agricultural University will have to pass the written examination conducted
by the Public Service Commission. They will be exempted from the Endurance
Test, prescribed in G.O.(MS) No. 312/75/ Agri., dated 16.10.1975. The persons
who possess the qualification viz VHSE in Agriculture will also be exempted from
Endurance Test (Vide G.O.(MS) No. 66/05/ Agri., dated 12.4.2005)
3) The candidates will be subjected to Endurance Test, written/ objective test if
necessary.
Endurance Test :
(1) 1600 metres race – Maximum duration 10 minutes
(2) Digging a plot of 0.4 ares, Maximum duration 1 hour.
Note :- Endurance Test is not applicable for those candidates who possess the
qualification under the Head of qualification in 'A' 1 and 2.
(v) Pre-Service Training-
All the Direct Recruits except those who possess any of the certifaicates accepted as
recognized training in Agriculture will have to undergo a course of training for six months in any of
the two centers at Ollukkara and Thaliparamba. Intensive training will be given in theory as well as
practical. At the end of the training period final test consisting of theory, practical and oral will be
conducted by the Deputy Director of Agriculture of the District concerned. Those who fail in the first
chance will be given two more chances to sit for the test during the period of probation, failing which
their probation will be terminated and service dispensed with. The test will be conducted half yearly
during the period of probation. After the successful completion of training, the candidates will be
appointed as Agricultural assistants on Rs.10480-18300.
(vi) All the direct recruits except those who have got exemption from the training will have to execute
a bond agreeing to serve the Government for a period of two years, failing which he/she should pay
back to Government all the money paid to him/her and all the expenses incurred by Government for
his/her training together with liquidated damages of Rs.300. The specimen form of the bond to be
executed can be had from the Agricultural Department . A sum of Rs. 50 per mensem (vide G.O.(Ms)
No. 407/70/Agri, dated 23.11.1970) will be paid as stipend during the period of training.
(vii) The rank and seniority of candidates selected for the post of Agricultural Assistant will be
decided according to their ranks assigned in the advice list of the Public Service Commission,
irrespective of whether they need or need not undergo the pre-service training. But in the case of those
who fail to secure a pass after completion of the training in the first chance, their Rank and Seniority
will be revised on the basis of the chances and mark they obtain in the subsequent chances.
Candidates appointed by direct recruitment will be on probation for a period of two years on duty
within a continuous period of three years.

Tribes in accordance with the procedures made for this purpose from time to time and subject to the
